Once upon a time, an old man called Tinus lived in seclusion in a forest. During a chase, he was able to save young Zade from the regent's henchmen. Since then, Zade has lived with the old man and experiences many exciting things every day. Tinus gradually teaches him the magic of the runes of the old Futhark and their meaning. He also teaches him how to use herbs and how to live in harmony with nature. When Zade has to leave him again, he leaves as a mature man and later becomes one of the greatest teachers of his region.
